New Patient

24 Feb

So we have been doing some research in regards to getting pregnant. Our ultimate goal is to use Charlie’s egg and I carry the child. We schedule our first appointment/meeting with Georgia Reproductive Specialist. We learned about them from the Mega Family Project which is “a nonpartisan, statewide organization dedicated to providing support, education, and advocacy work on behalf of LGBT families. MEGA puts on monthly educational and social activities to strengthen the LGBT Family Community in Georgia. The MEGA Family Project has thousands of members throughout the state of Georgia who support our mission and vision of strengthening LGBT families.”

Our process to parenthood has been an interesting one. We have looked at adoption, we have looked at adopting a child from foster care, and now we are looking at becoming pregnant. I’m sure our friends and family are like “What the Hell!?!?!?!” LOL. However, this is a journey and a serious one so here we are…on our way within the next week to discuss cost, timeline, health, test, etc.

I’m so nervous and excited; I just want to have a strong healthy body for the baby. I’m determined and it feels good. Charlie is very supportive and she is excited and nervous about them taking her egg(s). So soon we will be filling out new patient paper work and speaking with a financial coordinator.

Good luck with that. Infertility is really difficult to live with. My husband and I are going through the same thing.
