So today Charlie and I meet with our RE for the first time. It was an interesting and LONG appointment; the staff was very nice and welcoming. A few comments made by the staff left us to believe that they may not deal with many lesbian couples of color; or couples within our age range. They kept asking us our age and then saying well if you were in your 40s; but you two are only 28 and 32 so it will be different. Well we are not in our 40s talk to us while focusing on our ages.Β  They did their best…LOL.Β  We learned about our options for IVF, all of the loops that we have to jump through to start the process, and learned about self injections.

Charlie and I are doing Co-IVF Genetic Mother/Gestational Mother. So out of all the information that we have read on IVF we never read about self injections. The nurse was like…”They didn’t tell you about the injections.” NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!

So Charlie will be doing about a week of injections while I have to do 4 weeks. This is crazy. LOL Charlie’s response “We are going to have such a wonderful story to tell.” It was a sweet and perfect statement for the moment. So we are getting everything in line to hopefully start in May or June. I am very very excited.

When you hold your baby for the first time, the injections will be a distant memory! In the grand scheme, a few shots is so worth it! (tiff gave me all of my shots because I couldn’t…and she got really good at it) πŸ˜‰ good luck!
