Fingers Behind the Blog

Charlie and I at Our Wedding

I have come to believe over and over again that what is most important to me must be spoken, made verbal and shared, even at the risk of having it bruised or misunderstood. That the speaking profits me, beyond any other effect.” – Audre Lorde

I am a proud self-identified black queer femme who is comfortable within my womanhood, proud of my voice, growing within my marriage, motivated by my goals and personal growth. With all of the ignorance, stereotypes, and prejudice that help to fuel both internalized and societal homophobia I feel that I should be a testament to the power, strength, courage, and joy that it takes to living your life out and proud. My overall life goal is to live a happy and honest life.

My aim for this blog  is to put queer theory into action and practice by presenting a positive and honest image of the following:  blackness, queerness,  femininity, femme empowerment, queerness, same-sex marriage, queer adulthood, and the road to parenthood.

I am an open-minded, life living, joy loving leo currently located in the south. I am whole, yet composed of many diverse and specified parts that make me who I am. My wife and I were legally married in California in 2008. We held a wedding celebration for friends and family a year later. We are currently on a journey towards adding a child to our clan via insemination with willing-to-be-known donor sperm. Our first insemination was in Feb 2012.

Thank you for checking out my blog. 🙂

    Hi!

It is so nice to find another blogger in the south! We just got married on 10/01/11. We are just starting our TTC journey. It is so nice to find someone just starting out like us! My partner will be having an HSG in June and we hope to start the inseminations in July. We have some weight to lose too! We hope to lose as much as possible before our HSG.

We will be checking back with y’all I am sure!
